Andrea first began her journey with Discovery of Learning (DOL) in May 2014 as a teacher and a year later advanced into a director position. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Child & Adolescent Development from California State University, Fullerton in 2007. Later, in 2012, Andrea fulfilled graduate school at Capella University where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Psychology with a Specialization in Child and Adolescent Development. Throughout her educational career, Andrea has worked primarily at early learning centers under various leadership roles such as Teacher, Assistant Director, Acting Director, and Curriculum Specialist.
Andrea believes one of the many benefits of alternative education is how it provides choices for families which allow them the best possible education available designed to fit each child, individually. Children all learn in various ways as well as at various times through development. Alternative education can assist with the intention of a learning environment specific to each child’s needs and learning styles. At Discovery of Learning, we would like families to gain a sense of community where children can learn at their own pace as well as create lasting friendships. DOL can be a place where fun, creative learning, and play come together.
Andrea has a strong passion for learning about the Whole Child. She finds it amazing how children have a natural desire to learn, especially in an enriched environment. Andrea considers herself to be inspired to not only learn from her education and experiences, but also from her own kiddos. They are priceless jewels who bring color into her life. During her downtime, Andrea enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, listening to music, and living a holistic kind of life.
