Learning Pod Classes, Support & Consulting
Destination Learning Pods
Education used to be, just dropping your child off at school. However, as families invest in the best learning environment for their children we realize learning and schooling can look so different for each family, with a variety of options. Learning Pods allow families to group together in a home, at a park, or at a learning center with other like-minded families. Learning Pods are a great way to take advantage of our services as you build your Learning Pod community.
Support & Consulting
Discovery of Learning offers individualized consultation or ongoing support for your Learning Pod founder, team, or teacher. Your initial consultation will assess your pod or family’s needs. DOL will share available services with no fees or commitment needed up front. Once partnering together, consulting, curriculum, teacher placements or other service agreed upon, fees will be assigned and may vary according to services utilized.
Learning Pod Curriculum Monthly Subscription
A monthly Learning Pod Curriculum subscription provides pods with a variety of interactive, hands-on, and project-based activities and lessons that can meet grade level or grade range skill development in various subjects. These activities are designed for students TK-8th grade.
Each month your pod will receive links to lesson plans with any supporting worksheets/answer keys or instructions attached, as well as a monthly shopping list to support listed activities. Pods can pick and choose which activities they use or enjoy them all!
Destination Pod Teachers/Classes
Discovery of Learning can support your Learning Pod in several ways:
A Destination Pod Teacher can be hired to come to your destination: which may be at your home, park, or other destination. Discovery of Learning teachers are carefully selected to become part of our team. Our teachers come from a variety of backgrounds and may be at different points in their career paths. We have many teachers who are credentialed, who are seeking an alternative to the traditional classroom or have decided to homeschool their own children. We also have teachers who are currently in school or have achieved varying degrees from AA to Masters in education, child development, psychology, etc. Still yet are teachers who work for Discovery of Learning on part-time while also serving the community as licensed therapists, educational coaches, college teachers, historians, even authors, and artists!
We absolutely love and look for teachers with a zest for education, an open mind to family choice, and an exceptional background in working with children and families, and are advocates of alternative education. Our teachers are provided with a multitude of training methods to ensure they understand your chosen homeschool/pod method. The Destination Pod teacher will be trained in “The DOL Way” but also trained in the philosophy of your pod. The teacher can implement your group’s planned activities or the Teacher can bring DOL style lessons to your pod for an additional materials fee.
Destination Learning Pod Pricing
Pod Teacher prices vary from $25/hour and up depending on experience and distance
Discovery of Learning hosted Pod Classes (Currently offered in Long Beach and Riverside, CA)
1 – 1.5hr Class/week – $180/8 week session
1 – 3hr Class/week – $360/8 week session
2 – 1.5hr Classes/week – $180/4 week session
2 – 3hr Classes/week – $540/8 week session
Join a DOL Supported Community Learning Pod (Prices vary by pod)

Discovery of Learning also hosts Learning Pod classes/sessions!
Discovery of Learning will host Destination Learning pods throughout the program year at various campuses, parks or other locations in 4 or 8 week sessions. Classes are typically 1.5 hours in length and offered 1-2 times per week. Some pods may include a double class in a day with a lunch break in between for children to enjoy time together!
Discovery of Learning is currently forming Nature Pods in Long Beach, Ca and Riverside, Ca on Wednesdays from 10am-2pm including a 11:30-12:30 lunch.
