At Discovery of Learning’s Summer Program, each day is a new adventure in learning and creativity. Every day, children choose 2 of the five hands-on activities in our Discovery Block, giving them the freedom to follow their interests and take the lead in their learning. Their curiosity guides the experience, creating a summer that feels engaging, active, and full of discovery.
Whether they’re experimenting, creating, moving, or collaborating, children stay active and engaged in a screen-free environment that encourages real-world exploration and connection. Beyond their selected activities, they’ll connect with friends, hear from guest speakers, and take part in classic games, art, music, science, cooking and so much more. Our child-led summer program gives children the freedom to follow their interests and participate in fun, engaging experiences all summer long!

Summer Activities & Classes
Every day at Discovery of Learning’s Summer Program is filled with adventure, creativity, and hands-on exploration — all screen free.
Our child-led summer program gives children the freedom to follow their interests by choosing two different activities from our Discovery Block options. Children can choose from art, cooking, performing arts, science, and music.
Daily Group Activities (All Children Participate Together):
These shared activities bring everyone together for connection, play, and new experiences.
Old-Fashioned Games: Classic childhood favorites like Red Rover, Parachute, British Bulldog, Elbow Tag, and Capture the Flag—timeless games that keep kiddos active, laughing, and engaged.
Guest Speakers & Extension Activities: Inspiring guest speakers from a variety of fields share their experiences, followed by hands-on activities that bring each profession to life.
Water Play: A refreshing way to enjoy summer fun with exciting water games and activities.
Discovery Block Rotating Classes (Children Choose Daily):
During Discovery Blocks, children take the lead in their learning, selecting from a variety of hands-on experiences that change daily. Whether they’re diving into creative arts, science experiments, or problem-solving challenges, every child gets to explore what excites them most.
Performing Arts: Children bring their ideas to life through movement, music, and performance. Whether they’re choosing karaoke, creating a short skit, practicing gymnastics skills, exploring theater, or dancing with friends, this time is shaped by their interests. It’s energetic, expressive, and built around giving children the freedom to perform and create in their own way.
Art: From painting and drawing to creative crafts and sculpting using quality materials, children experiment, create freely, and bring their ideas to life.
Cooking: A hands-on experience where kiddos learn kitchen skills, including safety, reading recipes, measuring, combining ingredients, and experimenting with stovetop, oven, and cake decorating techniques.
Science: Hands-on exploration through exciting experiments and projects, from LEGO races to chemical reactions, aerodynamics challenges and so much more.
Music: Children engage with music through, rhythm activities, exploration of instruments, and the history of music and musicians.

9:00 to 10:00 – Free/Guided Exploration
10:00 to 10:15 – Ice Breakers
10:15 to 11:00 – Discovery Block 1 (Children choose from a rotating selection of engaging classes and interests each day)
11:00 to 11:15 – Gather and share
11:15 to 12:00 – Discovery Block 2 (Children choose from a rotating selection of engaging classes and interests each day.)
12:00 to 2:00 – Lunch and Outdoor/Water Play
2:00 to 2:30 – Quiet Recharge (A gentle break with music and quiet engagements to help children refresh)
2:30 to 3:30 – Guest Speaker and Extension activities
3:30 to 4:00 – Old Fashion Games
